Using AI to Assess and Update Immersive Training Courses

AN EXAMPLE OF AN INNOVATIVE STEP TRAINING PLATFORM THAT INTEGRATES AI, VR, AND AR TO ASSESS PERFORMANCE AND REFINE LEARNING PROCESSES.

Strong links between artificial intelligence and training make learning more effective and engaging and improve learner performance in educational and business contexts.

Developments combining AI with Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are becoming increasingly popular in this setting.

Alongside teachers and trainers, technology tools and AI – two Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) – can improve and enhance training practices by reducing costs and optimising approaches and outcomes, thus increasing the value of the processes to which they are applied.

By assimilating and processing Big Data, artificial intelligence can be used to create support tools that offerlearning experiences with a very high degree of interaction. The learning experiences offered by technologies such as the STEP platform are much more than simple training courses.

STEP – the SmarT Education Platform – is an innovative tool that entities can use to provide vocational education and training courses. Artificial Intelligence tools and algorithms can be integrated into educational content to assist with the learning process and assess skills.

Users can learn by interacting with content. At the same time, AI programmes can evolve over time to meet educational needs, making

this approach a highly flexible training option.

In terms of the STEP platform, AI has been used to create an accurate system for monitoring and assessing learner performance during learning phases using immersive VR.

By tracking the progress of individual learners, the system can learn, evolve, and adapts its training environment to the individual’s or group’s further training needs. The system can detect training process statuses and propose solutions to actual requirements in real-time

In fact, the system acts a bit like a tutor following their students’ progress. It immediately generates training responses that are appropriate to the difficulties encountered by the learner and determines when it is appropriate to move on to the following training objectives.

Due to the complexity of educational processes and the demand for continuous training, companies need systems that allow them to select, collect, and organise content with increasing levels of specialisation and complexity. They also need to provide immediate responses to training and refresher training requests with support from systems that can observe, track, identify, and correct learning methods and results.

By analysing and assessing the impact of AI applications on education, the whole process becomes collaborative and generative in terms of knowledge and skills.

Virtual infrastructures such as the STEP platform – which combines Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Artificial Intelligence – provide an upgradeable and customisable environment that can create a varied set of operational scenarios so that users can experience critical, unforeseen situations not often encountered during real-life training courses. Artificial Intelligence processes can be used to constantly verify individual practical and theoretical learning progress and their advancement through difficulty levels using VR and AR.
